Are you ready for non-stop walking, Chicago pizza, and the largest Radiology conference in the world? The RSNA Annual Meeting is the most anticipated event in radiology, and RSNA 2024 promises to be no exception. This year’s conference will feature cutting-edge advancements shaping the future of medical imaging, patient care, and diagnostics.
Trends at RSNA 2024
RSNA is where clinicians, vendors, researchers, and innovators come together to showcase and discuss new technology, radiology policy, and, most importantly, how to improve patient outcomes. At this year’s show, we expect to see much of the conversation center around efficiently gaining as many actionable, relevant insights from patient imaging as possible and integrating those findings into an overall care plan. AI and machine learning will undoubtedly be hot topics as vendors showcase tools that automate image processing and help improve daily workflows. AI tools focusing on automated image processing, reporting tools, and decision-support systems are streamlining the radiology workflow, reducing the time clinicians spend on administrative tasks and allowing them to focus more on patient care.
Personalized medicine is also becoming a key focus in healthcare, and radiology is crucial in this shift. At the show, we expect to see an emphasis on precision imaging that helps clinicians tailor treatments to individual patients based on their unique physiological and genetic profiles. We hope to see more integration of imaging with other diagnostic modalities, such as genomics, biomarkers, and clinical data. Combining imaging findings with this information can provide a holistic view of the patient, allowing clinicians to make more informed decisions.
Combining imaging findings with other diagnostic modalities and methodologies also means that radiology is becoming more multidisciplinary. RSNA 2024 will highlight how imaging professionals are working more closely with oncologists, cardiologists, pulmonologists, and other specialists to provide more comprehensive care.
Advanced Lung Imaging and Functional Imaging
Lung health is a significant focus at RSNA 2024, as advancements in lung imaging are opening up new frontiers in diagnosis and treatment. 4DMedical will showcase some groundbreaking technologies, such as our XV Scanner and CT LVAS + LDAf, which allow for detailed, real-time lung function imaging. These systems enable clinicians to assess regional lung health, monitor lung airflow, and detect early signs of disease with a previously impossible precision.
We’ll also see continued growth in functional imaging, which goes beyond traditional static images to capture the body’s dynamic processes in motion. Expect to see new tools for imaging not just the anatomy of the lungs but their functionality, opening up new possibilities for assessing diseases like COPD, asthma, and lung cancer.
A related trend is the increasing use of Virtual Reality (VR) to visualize medical images in a more immersive and dynamic way. VR is already being used for training purposes and is now finding clinical applications in planning surgeries and understanding complex anatomical relationships like those in the lungs and heart. 4DMedical will showcase its VR XV Scanner experience, allowing attendees to view lung function and respiratory processes in real-time through a fully immersive virtual environment. At our booth, you’ll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in a 360° VR demonstration that lets you see the XV Scanner in action from a whole new perspective. Register for your experience.
The XV Scanner is the world’s only fully dedicated lung function scanner, designed to simultaneously capture a complete, full-breath cycle from four different angles. It’s a revolutionary way to visualize respiratory functions in real time and gain insights into lung health like never before.
Finally, RSNA is also a place to discuss policy and legislation impacting radiology and lung health. On December 3, 2024, from 12:00–12:45 PM, join us at Center Stage, South Hall, for a CEO presentation on an important partnership between Philips and 4DMedical: “Innovation, Partnerships—for Lung Health and Veterans.” Industry leaders Jeff DiLullo (Philips) and Prof. Andreas Fouras (4DMedical) will discuss how their collaboration advances lung care for veterans, particularly those exposed to airborne toxins. This session will dive deep into the role of innovation and partnerships in improving access to care and addressing the unique healthcare needs of veterans. At RSNA, you’ll meet our team of experts who are passionate about transforming lung care. Whether you want to learn more about how our technologies work, discuss clinical applications, or explore partnership opportunities, our team will be ready to share their knowledge and answer any questions.
