Dr. Greg Mogel, Chief Medical Officer of 4DMedical, is a US Army Medical Corp Veteran and practicing radiologist who was recently interviewed alongside US Army Veteran Cindy Daniels by Brian Casey, Managing Editor at The Imaging Wire.

Their discussion focused on the PACT Act and exposure to toxic chemicals and fumes during military service. During Cindy’s service, she was exposed to large football field-sized burn pits where all trash was regularly burned with jet fuel. “We were constantly coughing up black stuff and blowing black right out of our noses,” she shared. Military personnel were also exposed to frequent sandstorms filled with tiny particulate matter that cannot be expelled. After Cindy returned to civilian life, she began regularly feeling unwell even as she continued her career as a civilian police officer. She found herself frequently out of breath when doing simple tasks like walking to her car and ended up in the emergency room thinking she was having a heart attack. Cindy began seeking answers on what was causing such poor health in an otherwise healthy and fit young woman.

Watch the Interview and Hear:

  • How Cindy learned about constrictive bronchiolitis and began pushing the VA for answers on her condition.
  • Why the PACT Act has made a major change by adding over 20+ more presumptive conditions for burn pits and other toxic exposures, like Agent Orange during the Vietnam War.
  • Dr. Mogel offers a deep dive into the information made available by four-dimensional, functional lung imaging exams like those provided by 4DMedical. A pattern of ventilation heterogeneity is visible for the very first time with 4D’s revolutionary technology, providing never-before-seen insights into regional lung function and examining areas of the lung with restrictive change.
