Chemical Casualties: The hidden cost of war

This Innovation Week seminar at Melbourne Connect is open to the public and free of charge.  Tuesday 5 September 1200-1400 including lunch; Superfloor Forum.

Presented jointly by 4DMedical and CADRE-OCE — the Centre for Advanced Defence Research and Enterprise – Operating in Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Environments.

Engage in a captivating presentation and panel discussion, where we delve into the critical topic of chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear defense (CBRN) and the evolving challenges of multiple threat scenarios.

As military forces face an ever-increasing threat of CBRN attacks from both state and non-state actors, it is essential to equip them with the necessary knowledge and capabilities to operate in such toxic environments. Through this event, learn about situational awareness, detection methods, and sustaining operational capabilities, and explore ‘blue on blue’ impacts and the consequences of burn pit exposures.

Keynote speakers, Rosie Lopez Torres and CAPT Le Roy Torres, are influential advocates in the fight for justice and medical care for victims of toxic exposure to burn pits. As co-founders of the Burn Pits 360 organisation, they have been at the forefront of educating and empowering veterans, ensuring they receive the care they deserve. Their experiences are both illuminating and inspiring.

Confirmed panelists include leading occupational and environmental health expert Emeritus Professor Malcolm Sim, CADRE-OCE Director Professor Jia-Yee Lee, and Professor Andreas Fouras — inventor of XV Technology and infantry officer.
