Physicians can now order 4DMedical’s CT:VQ and LDAf analyses at SimonMed locations nationwide, gaining complementary functional and quantitative insights to support the evaluation of respiratory symptoms and lung disease. The clinical launch coincides with November’s COPD Awareness Month.
As 4DMedical’s first nationwide, outpatient imaging-group partner in the United States, SimonMed is bringing these capabilities into community-based care. Both FDA-cleared technologies use specialized software to analyze non-contrast chest CT imaging, helping physicians look beyond lung structure for a more comprehensive assessment.
CT:VQ® maps ventilation and perfusion, showing how air and blood flow through different regions of the lungs. These functions can be evaluated using CT without injected contrast, radioactive tracers or specialized nuclear medicine equipment.
LDAf ™ quantifies low-density lung tissue and air trapping to support the evaluation of obstructive lung disease. Together, the technologies provide complementary information to inform clinical assessment and care decisions.
Physicians can order either analysis individually or both together for patients with persistent respiratory symptoms, abnormal pulmonary function tests, or known or suspected lung disease. This includes patients whose persistent shortness of breath or chronic cough warrants further evaluation.
The launch expands access to advanced lung analysis in outpatient settings while extending 4DMedical’s technology further into the U.S. market. For referring clinicians, the focus is additional information to support informed decisions and help patients better understand their lung health.
