Dr. Vij was Senior Vice President at 4Dx and continues to lead Clinical Development as a CEO of VIJ BIOTECH (CRO) supporting 4Dx.  He has substantial expertise in pulmonary medicine, having served as a lead investigator on a variety of drug development, molecular diagnostics and pre-clinical or clinical studies. He has developed a variety of disease intervention strategies for CF, COPD and other lung conditions. He has been an active researcher for the past two decades and has published 70+ peer-reviewed publications as corresponding or lead author. He is also a medical school faculty with expertise in Pulmonary Medicine. His passion for serving the needs of patients attracted him to 4Dx’s initiative to help translate their state-of-the-art, non-invasive lung imaging technology to the patient’s bedside for pulmonary function measurements as well as early detection of the disease.

Dr. Vij received his PhD in Biotechnology from Indian Institute of Technology in 2001, and was also a recipient of international fellowships at Institute of Genetics, Biological Research Center (Center of Excellence of the European Union), Hungary in the same year. He subsequently completed his postdoctoral research at University of Heidelberg, Germany and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He was promoted to Assistant Professor at Department of Pediatrics: Pulmonary Medicine and Cystic Fibrosis Center, Johns Hopkins University SOM (JHU SOM) followed by Associate Professor at College of Medicine, CMU. He is trained as a pulmonary, molecular and cell biologist, and has extensive expertise in pulmonary medicine, therapeutic development and molecular diagnostics.

He serves on the Editorial Boards of several high impact journals and has been invited to help organize or chair several workshops and seminars related to his area of expertise in pulmonary medicine. He is frequently invited to serve on several grant review study sections (NIH and foundation) and as a reviewer for various high impact Journals. He is a recipient of several research awards, grants (NIH and foundation) and recognitions for his scientific contributions in the field of pulmonary medicine. Dr. Vij was also involved in training and education of students and research/clinical fellows in various capacities leading to placements at top-tier universities, medical schools or pharmaceutical/biotech and diagnostic companies.
